Types of Meditation

Meditation encompasses a wide range of practices and techniques, each with its own focus and method. Here are some of the most common types of meditation:

1. Mindfulness Meditation:
Description: Involves paying attention to the present moment without judgment and observing thoughts, feelings, and sensations.
Benefits: Reduces stress, improves focus, enhances emotional regulation, and increases self-awareness.

2. Transcendental Meditation (TM):
Description: Involves silently repeating a specific mantra to achieve a state of restful alertness.

3. Loving-Kindness Meditation (Metta):
Description: Focuses on developing feelings of compassion, love, and kindness toward oneself and others.

4. Body Scan Meditation:
Description: Involves paying attention to different parts of the body, usually from head to toe, and observing any sensations.

5. Zen Meditation (Zazen):

10. Yoga Nidra:
